Born in Michigan, I am a vivacious reader, a poet, a technical guru, an avid traveler and a devoted husband.

After graduating from Western Michigan University in the spring of 2007, I turned down an EFL teaching position in China (I minored in Mandarin Chinese) and instead accepted a job as a training coordinator/technical writer/software tester for a  consulting firm. Over the last two year, I have pursued non teaching related passions such as working for a technical consulting firm and backpacking half way around the world. These opportunities, although very educational and enjoyable, left me with ample time to reflect on why I was not teaching and why I wanted to be a teacher in the first place. What I discovered about myself is this: I find personal fullfillment when I combine something I am passionate about with investing into the lives of other people. I went to college to be a teacher because I am passionate about reading and writing. Teaching those skills to others is the best way that I know to invest in the future.

I started teaching at University Schools during the fall of 2009. My first year of teaching of an exciting journey that I look forward to continuing through the 2009-2010 schools year.
